Union JACK, the first radio station dedicated to playing British music, celebrates its second RAJAR result with 80,000 listeners and 357,000 listening hours. Union JACK which launched in September 2016, plays British music from the past six decades, as well as pioneering brand new, homegrown talent. Every song is voted for by listeners on the totally unique Union JACK app or online.

The RAJAR figures also show that the average listener tunes in for 4.5 hours a week, which exceeds other established national brands.

Donnach O’Driscoll, co-CEO of Union JACK, said: “We continue to be delighted with a strong second RAJAR result for Union JACK. With 6.3 million song votes and average listening hours continuing to exceed larger, national brands, we are over the moon. The feedback from the listeners has been overwhelmingly positive and we’re excited to continue growing and celebrating the Best of British!”

Giles Gear, Programme Manager of Union JACK, said: “We isolated a gap in the market playing nothing but British music plus focusing on the best of British comedy and we are thrilled with the station’s progress. Britain produces great music & comedy we believe that needs an outlet 24 hours a day. We wanted to celebrate some of the best talent that comes from the UK and also give new musicians & comedians a dedicated platform to be heard.”

Union JACK entertains the nation by ‘Playing the Best of British’. This encapsulates music from The Beatles to Ed Sheeran, The Rolling Stones to Coldplay, The Who to The Stone Roses, Tom Odell to Shawn Smith, plus comedy too.

Union JACK plays clips of classic sitcoms and stand-up, celebrating Britain’s rich history in amusing the world, as well as showcasing original comedic content with guest appearances from the likes of Rory Bremner.  In the coming months, the station will host up-and-coming comedy, and soon be the go to outlet for breaking new British talent – both music, comedy and in-between!

Union JACK allows listeners to take total control of the radio station with the unique Union JACK app. Every song you hear is voted for – up or down – and the one at the top of the list plays next.
