Union JACK, the first radio station dedicated to playing British music, celebrates a debut RAJAR result with 71,000 listeners and 265,000 listening hours, despite any marketing or previous national heritage. The station, which launched in September 2016, plays British music from the past six decades, as well as pioneering brand new, homegrown talent. Every song is voted for by listeners on the totally unique Union JACK app or online.
The RAJAR figures also show that the average listener tunes in for 3.7 hours, which exceeds other established national brands. Donnach O’Driscoll, co-CEO of Union JACK, said: “We are absolutely delighted with our first RAJAR result for Union JACK. With 4.5 million song votes and average listening hours exceeding larger, national brands, we are over the moon. The feedback from the listeners has been overwhelmingly positive and we’re excited to continue growing and celebrating the Best of British!”

Union JACK entertains the nation by ‘Playing the Best of British’. This encapsulates music from The Beatles to Ed Sheeran, The Rolling Stones to Coldplay, The Who to The Stone Roses, Tom Odell to Shawn Smith, and also comedy.
Union JACK plays clips of classic sitcoms and stand-up, celebrating Britain’s rich history in amusing the world, as well as showcasing original comedic content. In the coming months, the station will host up-and-coming comedy, and soon be the go to outlet for breaking new British talent – both music, comedy and in-between!
Union JACK allows listeners to take total control of the radio station with the unique Union JACK app. Every song you hear is voted for – up or down – and the one at the top of the list plays next. Total control of the station is in the hands of Union JACK’s audience. It’s proving successful; in the first nine months of broadcast, Union JACK’s seen over 4.5 million song votes.
