FLAGPOLE READY FLAGS
Our sewn and printed flags are ready to fly from your flagpole. They are manufactured from woven polyester to exacting Ministry of Defence standards and ISO 9000. 'Sewn' refers to the practice of creating the elements of the flag separately and then sewing them together. - for example a sewn St. George's Cross flag would consist of the red cross as one peice and four white panels all stitched together. British Flags are supplied to the accepted standard of 2:1 ratio. The size of the flag is measured by its length in yards. Our flags are supplied with a rope and toggle but can be supplied with 'D' rings or inglefield clips on request.

SIZING
For flag sizing a general rule is to allow 1 yard width of flag for every 10 feet of your flagpole height, therefore a freestanding 20 foot flagpole would require a 2 yard flag, 30 foot flagpole, a 3 yard flag etc. From a building, size is proportional, so it is recommended to size at 1 square foot (0.3 sq.m to 0.3m) to 1 foot of linear height.therefore a 40 foot building plus 20 foot flagpole on top would require a 4 yard flag.

FLAG CARE
Just how long a flag lasts is an impossible question to answer, however, a flags life can be extended by following a few simple rules:

Do not fly a flag at night: Flag flying protocol accepts the practice of lowering the flag at night, by taking the flag down at night the flags lifespan can be increased.

Do not fly your flag in gale or storm conditions: In severe weather conditions the flag should be brought down.

Allow your flag to dry before folding:
To prevent mildew.

Wash your flag:
Wash your flag on a regular basis usually once every 14 days but in heavily polluted area's, once every 7 days.

Recommended washing instructions: Polyester flags require a warm wash at 40°C, using a propriety brand of washing powder. Washing cannot be emphasised too strongly, dirt and acids carried in the atmosphere can rapidly damage the material. If these are not washed off, degradation can rapidly take place and the lifespan drastically reduced. If flags are left too long between cleaning the task may become impossible.
